We all have faith. Those that do not have religious beliefs still have beliefs, and in many cases they do not have any more support for their belief than someone with a religious view. They may have faith in science, but science can only tell you about the physical world, not the metaphysical.

Take for example the creation of the universe. Scientific evidence strongly suggests that our universe began at a finite time in the past, and in essence, space and time itself came into being out of nothing. The universe is also incredibly fine-tuned to support life, and the chances of that happening are truly astronomical.

The Judeo/Christian view attributes this to a creator, and that is supported by a logical argument. That which *begins* to exist, must have a cause, the universe began to exist, therefore the universe must have a cause. That cause also must be outside of the universe, and inherently it must be a personal, all powerful agent capable of initiating the cause. You can't have an infinite regression of uncaused causes. In other words, there was a big bang, so there must be a big banger.

On the other side of the question there are those that reject the idea of a creator a priori, and they look for all kinds of crazy theories to explain the origin and fine-tuning of the universe, such as a multi-verse with an infinite number of universes we can't see. One could just as easily say faith in that kind of belief is delusional.

I personally think faith and delusion are quite similar, but faith to me is someone's sane mind believing by their own will. Also delusion is someone whose mind is close to insane on something they are tricked into believing. It all depends also on what the faith or delusion the people are believing in since their are many different types of faiths out their in the world including delusions. Also I looked up the meaning of both words and Faith is a belief without proof and delusion is a false belief. But their are so many answers to this question that theirs no true correct answer in my opinion.

Not being a religious person myself, I do respect those who have faith in a high being but to me they are a bit delusional. Believing and having faith in something that can be seen and gives you no real reason to have faith in is a bit delusional if you ask me. Most religions are based in books that have been censored by religious leaders for monetary benefit. If your going to have faith in anything it should be yourself and those around you. But faith does take belief and trust and faith takes a certain strength not all people have.
