“A visual typographic feast about the five senses, and how they contribute to and enhance our creativity.”

I’ve always had a deep appreciation for words. Organized sounds that really only have whatever meaning we’ve given them, and yet those definitions hold such power. Sounds: that are our words: which are made up of letters: which are really just a set of visual figures that we use to map out the equation of emotions and meaning you are trying to convey.

Every single word we say, we write, we read… is absorbed significantly on a subconscious level. Every thought. Specific word choice does matter. Energy within and without shifts and shapes who we are and the world around us. I think it’s this passion for words and my love affair with design that has drawn me so much to typography.

Adding a tangible aesthetic to a word, an otherwise abstract medium, inspires a few extra moments of observation and allows us to ponder a more complex meaning of the usually simple phrases we see in typography.

I found this video on Vimeo and was impressed to read that “everything in the film is real — no CG effects!”. It was created by a group of students and faculty members at BYU for the 5th Typophile Film Festival.
