The concept of idea sharing is gaining a lot of momentum in popular circles, these days. In truth, I think we’re really seeing the evolution of the web 2.0 concept wherein people, on some level, are fully realizing the potential of free, user-created utilities that have been made available to us in the post-information age. As such, websites such as ted.com, http://www.youthography.com/, http://www.twistimage.com/blog/, http://www.fastcompany.com/, among others are building a “fanbase” and building momentum in various arenas, both private and public. The coming together of concepts and ideas that have, due to a lack of real-time interaction and availability, been unable to connect in the past, is increasing the accesibility of both academia and pop-culture where they may not have been accessible before.

I think that, as a forum for sharing ideas, lifeonblast.com fits nicely amongst the best of these sites. Upon learning about Alana Joy’s work, I found that I had discovered a place where the leading edge of popular culture encounters new and unique ideas in areas both related and unrelated. Life On Blast provides an ideal network of communication for those interested in learning of, and, maybe, contributing to new and interesting trends in the fields of music, entertainment, fashion, etc. Moreover, though, it combines these interests with a place to communicate them on a sociological and political level. And I think that, what I’ve encountered to date, is just the tip of the iceberg with respect to what Ms. Joy’s concept is capable of.

This interview summarizes the character, concept and potential of this site to a T. Great listen, nice work. Suffice to say: huge fan. I’ll tune in whenever I can!

It was great listening to the radio show. Listening to you talk about where the site is now is amazing. Considering not long ago you were in my living room explaining it.

I thought you two played off each other very well. Stella Stewart had a great manner about her and you were very good in articulating about your projects. Perhaps you two could do more of this on other subjects as well.

I think Life on Blast in terms of social networking is a good example for our own site, because we are trying to get a community going, but it’s really not working out. Great to see that you Alana, knows what you are talking about!
